Analysis Plus Copper Oval XLR 1m

These interconnects were designed using patented hollow oval geometry to control current density in a form suitable for braiding from pure oxygen free copper. The signal lines are then wrapped with a shield to provide protection from EMI/RFI. The result is a super quiet, extremely neutral cable.

This is quite a thin flexible cable by High End Standards and is more flexible and easy to accomodate then most. It has a clear open sound but is not hard.

VDH AES-EBU 110 Ohm Link
We have obtained quite a large quantity of New Old Stock of this cable, it has been in storage for a few years but was shrink wrapped ex factory and is brand new. This is a high quality 110 Ohm AES/EBU digital cable but upon stripping and terminating some it looked and sounded familliar in other ways. It reminded us of D102 III.
Upon further investigation it appears that there is a current cable in the VDH line up called the D102 V Special.
The specifications for capacitance, insulation materials, strand materials and numbers as well as the screen specification is the same as the AES-EBU 110 Ohm Link. The main difference appears to be in the outside insulation colour!!!!

So what we have here is a dirt cheap option for a DIY high class analogue interconnect that can be terminated XLR balanced or RCA single ended, used for internal wire on DIY pre amps etc etc. For those needing an AES EBU balanced digital cable this may just be the bargain of the century!
We can terminate this cable with XLR plugs or RCAs on request for the non DIY folks.

Here are the specifications of the two cables for your own perusal. D102 V Special & AES-EBU 110 Ohm Link

The AES-EBU 110 Ohm Link contains two centre conductors in red and transparent. The internal balanced construction consists of 42 x 0.13 mm. strands per lead; each lead exhibiting a resistance of 3.1 Ohm/100 meter. Both cores’ insulation is made of dense polyethylene. This dense insulation material provides extra protection for the two internal conductors. To make The AES-EBU 110 Ohm Link insensitive to humidity penetration, specially treated fibres are used as internal fillers; this provides a perfect protection against electrical losses and maintains the 110 Ohm impedance in any situation. The double screening is made of a specially treated Mylar reinforced aluminium tape beneath a braiding of 120 high grade OFC wires with a dense pure silver coating. The resistance of the braiding is 0.8 Ohm/100 meter. The 7.25 mm. external diameter white outer jacket is made of HULLIFLEX ® 2

Amplifier comes with a recently fitted set of tubes including the preferred Ei output tubes. This set of tubes has less than 250 hours on them.

Separate left and right silver-contact select switches (for the four stereo line inputs) deliver your music into the premium Noble® balance and volume controls before hitting the first 12AT7 input tubes. The advantages of a passive preamp driving an extremely short and low capacitance two inches of cable are well known: near-absolute transparency, no added noise, and extreme signal path simplicity. This is the perfect place to implement a passive preamp as it were.

Following the mighty 6414 driver/phase splitter, the trusty EL84 output stage can be switched between either around 20 watts of TRIODE or 40 watts of Ultra Linear mode push-pull operation. Individual bias for each tube is easily adjusted using the trimpots and test points, conveniently located on the top surface of the amplifier. The Stingray's power supply is extra-rugged and stiff, a MANLEY hallmark. It swims with the sharks: fast, agile, fluid, and with consummate authority.

As an option a full spare set of tubes incl Ei output tubes (+ a few extra) is available to the buyer of the above for R850.00

Main Speakers are the Dali Grand Diva, these were one series down from Dali’s flag ship line and sold for GBP2995.00
The Centre Speaker is the matching Dali Grand Vocal, last listed at GBP798.00
The included set of Rear Speakers are the Dali Grand Coupe, a fantastic mini monitor in its own right on a very nice set of Reference Jamo stands. All Dali speakers are finished in a beautiful real wood “Cherry”.

Amplification is courtesy of the very classy EAD Powermaster 500. This offers 5 Channels of high end gutsy audiophile power that is also sweet and without hardness.
(It shares more then just that fly wheel cut front plate with Jeff Rowland, using same output stages and topology.)
Surround Sound Processing, Pre Amp duties and Digital to Analogue Conversion is done by the EAD Encore High End AV processor. This unit is a fine pre amplifier, DAC and 5.1 surround decoder in one box. The detail retrieval, natural tone and soundstage this unit pulls of discs will leave the current Japanese processors in the dust. It also features auto set up with its own mic.
All in all a rather phenomenal theatre system for those who value class above over the top whizz bang. This system is very happy running stereo or surround and the ease and beauty with which music is presented in movies is a revelation to most. Obviously music DVDs are awesome.
