We have obtained quite a large quantity of New Old Stock of this cable, it has been in storage for a few years but was shrink wrapped ex factory and is brand new. This is a high quality 110 Ohm AES/EBU digital cable but upon stripping and terminating some it looked and sounded familliar in other ways. It reminded us of D102 III.
Upon further investigation it appears that there is a current cable in the VDH line up called the D102 V Special.
The VdH D102 V Special sells for more then R2500 for a 1 metre pair in South Africa. The specifications for capacitance, insulation materials, strand materials and numbers as well as the screen specification is the same as the AES-EBU 110 Ohm Link. The main difference appears to be in the outside insulation colour!!!!

So what we have here is a dirt cheap option for a DIY high class analogue interconnect that can be terminated XLR balanced or RCA single ended, used for internal wire on DIY pre amps etc etc. For those needing an AES EBU balanced digital cable this may just be the bargain of the century!
We can terminate this cable with XLR plugs or RCAs on request for the non DIY folks.

The AES-EBU 110 Ohm Link contains two centre conductors in red and transparent. The internal balanced construction consists of 42 x 0.13 mm. strands per lead; each lead exhibiting a resistance of 3.1 Ohm/100 meter. Both cores' insulation is made of dense polyethylene. This dense insulation material provides extra protection for the two internal conductors. To make The AES-EBU 110 Ohm Link insensitive to humidity penetration, specially treated fibres are used as internal fillers; this provides a perfect protection against electrical losses and maintains the 110 Ohm impedance in any situation. The double screening is made of a specially treated Mylar reinforced aluminium tape beneath a braiding of 120 high grade OFC wires with a dense pure silver coating. The resistance of the braiding is 0.8 Ohm/100 meter. The 7.25 mm. external diameter white outer jacket is made of HULLIFLEX ® 2
